The Ologies - Chapter 1: The Stache

Welcome! I'm happy to be finally back to writing. I most of you might not know me or the Ology namesake but about a year ago I tried my hand at a Sims 3 Legacy. Needless to say, it didn't go well. So, with a new start in the Sims 4 I'm happy to announce a redux of the Legacy I enjoyed so much.

In the Ologies, we live by a simple rule: For Science! This translates to an added rule on top of Pinstar's for legacies. The founder and all heirs must have 2 skills maxed by the time they pass.

This legacy will also be following an alphabet naming scheme and thus will be 26 generations instead of 10 and will follow the theme of science disciplines! (i.e. prefix + ology)

In terms of succession, I will be playing as an Equal Traditional legacy and look to you for votes on the heirship (or if it strikes my fancy just picking the heir)!

With that all said and done, let's get started!

On the largest lot in Willow Creek, the newest legacy founder surveys her surroundings.

Aux Ology is named after the scientific study of growth.  Her traits are genius, cheerful and perfectionist. Her current aspiration is to be a Freelance Botanist. I think it suits her pretty well.

So what do you think, Aux?

"Does this awkward smile accurately portray my eagerness to make you think I love the place in case you boolprop me?"

Hmph.

"Do I get to keep the suit, though?"

Err...sorry. No.

"Plumbobs."

I immediately had Aux grab up the Writing career and head off to the library. Of course my plan is for her to mainly focus on her gardening and fishing but we needed the money with only about $40 some left in the bank.

This is one case in where having to unlock objects in the Sims 4 will come in handy considering the first gift you get from a promotion in the Writer track is a $1,000 some computer.

Instead of potential spouses, the Langraabs decide to approach Aux and garner up a negative relationship and then make out in front of her...

"God, seeing you be a subpar sim being almost makes me as hot as your ridiculously orange skirt, Nancy..."

"Oh, Geoffrey~!"

"*sobbing and gagging into the keyboard*"

Just...keep your head down, Aux.

Aux don't turn around-!

"Oh god...the stache..."

Pretty sure he's married too. A stache only a spouse could love.

In an attempt to dance "The Stache" away from her mind,  Aux headed on over next door to the night club to hopefully at least meet a couple of friends.

I'm not surprised this dork also "dances" like she's trying to covertly get rid of a wedgie.

Even Aux needs a few drinks to handle her own dancing.

All the ladies immediately take a liking to Bob Pancake and flock to his mixology ability. Or it could just be the booze calling to them. Either way Aux got to make some connections before she nearly collapsed from exhaustion.

The next morning, Aux woke up bright and early to head to her first day at work.
I think Aux is quite pretty. She also always pulls the best expressions.

I forgot to toss a bin on the lot so I thought I'd annoy the rational Aux by grabbing one with a unicorn on it.

"IT BURNS."

Oh you big baby.

After, Aux got off work I sent her over to the river near the Legacy Lot to start on her fishing skills. I really do like fishing in the Sims 4 so far, it's relaxing. The only pet peeve is that catching fish takes far too much time.

The next morning, Aux wakes up bright and bushy tailed.

"I actually like legacy living. It's not too bad."

...you're actually living on your lawn.

"You made me the cheerful sim."

"UGH! I hate legacy living."

Yeah I'd hate living a life where all I had to eat was days old salad...

Aux's attempts at friendship so far have not been going so well..

I think it's mostly because her pouty face makes mean sims want to aggravate her all the more. Also she can be quite self righteous sometimes-

"She poked my boob can you not right now?"

Aux you can't swab the dirty bin for bacteria samples stop.

"Don't talk to me."

Aux's harshness aside, this also gives me a platform to tell you about how much I hate the no automatic outdoor trashcans in the Sims 4...

But I think Aux had a far worse night with stinky trash...

...mean sims, and yellow plumbobs.

"Stupid little dangly diamond..."

When she wakes up, her attitude is far more improved than before and she spends the day starting the Ology garden...

...and selling fish to add to the small pile of funds that's building in her bank.

She also renews her spouse hunt and who else walks in but Don Draper himself...err...that's not right. It was actually Bob Draper something or other but it seemed like the sims might actually live up to his TV counterpart (I hoped with less skeevy attitudes and cheating).

I quickly ushered Aux off the lot, however, when the "Hates Children" trait popped up.

He promptly followed her all the way to Oasis Springs.

"Bartender! A shot please to cope with my newly acquired stalker."

I thought that maybe Aux might have a bit better luck in a new neighborhood (foolish optimism on my part really).

And when I had seemingly lost hope who else walks up but a lesser version of "The Stache". I actually think he could have nice genetics and it's better than what we've been getting.

I also stared for about five minutes to see if those eyebags were age lines but then I remembered I set aging off for a bit of a Sims 2 esque feel (and hopefully for some spares showing up generations later).

I sent Aux out to talk to him and she immediately tries to punch him in the face.

Flirting 101 with Aux Ology.

"AH! STACHEMAN!"

They hit it off quite well and guess who also is quite the mixology master as well! Hamming up for the ladies. Pfft. What a nerd.

With the money Aux managed to save up from gardening I built a little shack that will hopefully serve as a foundations for the generations to come.

My favorite part has got to be the restroom door.

I also had Aux quit her job as she had a steady income now just from her garden and fishing.

And who else but Gideon shows up on our lot!

Aux invites him in for awkward silence and some days old garden salad.

"So..."

"So..."

"This is where you live?"

"...yep."

"I like it! With a few splashes of paint it could turn into a nice little abode."

"Wait...seriously?"

"Yeah! I'm an artist so I quite like that you're willing to rough it out in the name of building a foundation for your children. It's like...super depressing too."

After that, the pair got along great and built up a good friendship despite his gloominess and artistic side.

"I'll see you tommorrow or something, alright?"

"Sure, Gids. Just hold me a little longer. Narrator doesn't let me have much human contact...*sniff*"

You cheeky little...

I still haven't decided if I like this lighting mod I installed as while it fixes the lighting it also makes the lights a bit too harsh.

I also just wanted to show of Aux's growing garden and her little hut.

Aux and I were met with a surprise when Gideon invited her out to the bar the next day.

"Oh god he wears a cowboy hat."
Snicker.

Aux was happy to show off her moves to Gideon.

"Come on, let's see what we're working with Gids!"

Aux manages to coax Gideon onto the dance floor while she shows him the ropes.

"And then you squat and awkwardly flail out your arms like this-"

And I have got to say Gideon might be an even worse dancer than Aux... She only managed to get a bit of swaying and arm action before she abruptly excused herself.

"Aux? Are you alright?"

"Huh?

"Gideon, I'm so glad we're friends."

"Me too, Aux...? What's gotten into you? As much as I live for dramatic reveals..."

"I'm telling you because it makes this much harder to do because logically I know that I might lose the only friend I have in this stupid rotten town-"

"Aux what-mmf!"

"Ahem...I uh..."

"I really need to think about this, Aux."

Gideon left immediately after the kiss and Aux was so dejected she decided just to go home.

However, as soon as the sun rose Gideon was at her doorstep.

"Aux, I'm so sorry I left you. I just wanted to tell you that I thought about yesterday all night and I may not have gotten any sleep but...I love you."

"I love you too. And I want you to know how much I love your dramatics and the way your hat clips into my forehead."

"And I love your big glasses, self righteous attitude and your shack."

"We really are a pair then."

...wow how did that double bed get there?

"Narrator!"

"Your back is so sore though, Aux...Maybe we should get you to lady down..."

"Oh you, charmer. I'll show you a real cowgirl...no seriously that hat is very historically inaccurate."

The next morning, Aux proposes to her gloomy cowboy in a flourish of pink hearts and puppy dog eyes.

He of course says yes.

Not one to waste time (you'll never know if I'm talking about Aux or my mild panic at life bars), Aux and Gideon get hitched by the restroom door entrance to the Legacy shack.

Welcome to the family, Gideon Ology!

With the money Gideon brought in I managed to build them a nice starter home with room to expand. If you look on the right there behind the line of bushes is Aux's garden.

A nice entryway.

The kitchen as viewed from the entryway. I really like that little pig chef with a blackboard. Also that painting hanging on the wall between doors is one of my favorites.

The door in the middle of the kitchen leads to the master bedroom and the one to the right leads to the nursery.

To the left of the entryway is the living area.

The master bedroom complete with really nice bed for the founding couple. Also cute potted plant on the bedside table.

An unfurnished nursery for the youngins.

And finally the bathroom in a nice pretty purple.

I finally got to shave Gideon's 90s pornstache and changed his looks to more suit his gloomy artist persona.

"Wow I totally want to go listen to Lana Del Rey and think I'm deep right now."
That's me everyday, Gids.

But he is in fact quite good at art! I signed him up for the Painter career so he can bring in some cash for the family.

"Well, Mr. Ology...I say we retire for the night..."

"Oh hoh...I like the way you think, Mrs. Ology."

"..."

"..."

"I'll go get the chess board!"

And with this little teaser folks I leave you! Thank you so much for tuning in for this chapter of The Ologies!

I apologize for any odd changes in tenses, it's a bit hard for me at the moment to decide present vs past tense for the writing of these chapters as it's about 3 in the morning as I'm writing this.

For Science!
